Peec AI runs a fixed list of prompts through the consumer ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI apps once a day and shows you a dashboard of mentions, positions and sources. That is exactly what most marketing teams want, and it is why people look for an alternative for one of four reasons: the prompt quota (50 on the $95 Starter plan) runs out, the three active models per project are not the ones you need, Perplexity and Claude sit behind an Enterprise quote, or you want to run a prompt on demand from your own code rather than wait for tomorrow's cycle.
This guide lists the alternatives worth a look for each of those reasons: Otterly.AI and Scrunch as dashboards with different quotas and engine mixes, Cite42 and cloro as APIs that run a prompt when you ask, and Profound for enterprise budgets. Cite42 publishes this guide. We checked every vendor's pricing and documentation pages on November 5, 2026, and did not run paid tests through the other products.
The best Peec AI alternatives for different jobs
- Otterly.AI: the closest like-for-like dashboard, with 100 prompts for $189 and a $29 plan for a single small brand. Claude, Gemini and AI Mode are paid add-ons.
- Cite42: running your own prompts on demand across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews from an API or an MCP client, billed per call with no plan.
- Scrunch: 350 custom prompts plus industry prompt sets from $300 a month, with AI bot analytics and agent pages for the site itself.
- cloro: a scraping API that returns what the consumer apps rendered, including shopping cards and ads, for teams building their own tracker at high volume.
- Profound: the enterprise platform with conversation-volume data, now sold only on a custom contract after a free trial.

What Peec AI does well, and what sends people elsewhere
Peec collects answers the way an anonymous user would see them. Its documentation says it "uses UI scraping technology to interact with AI platforms exactly as real users do" and that this reflects "the reality for a logged-out user." Every plan includes unlimited seats, a sources view for each answer, suggested prompts, and an MCP server, and the API is included from the $245 Pro plan.
The limits are structural rather than bugs. Prompts are a hard quota per plan, every plan runs three active models per project, Starter tracks one country, and the pricing page now lists Perplexity and every API-sourced model (Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral) under Enterprise only, while older pages still advertise a Perplexity tracker. Reviews on OMR mention that "pricing isn't super transparent" and that the suggested prompts "are often very off." If you want Perplexity or Claude on a self-serve plan, or a prompt answered today, the alternatives below are the ones to compare.
Otterly.AI: more prompts for less, with engines as add-ons
Otterly.AI is the most direct substitute. Its Standard plan is $189 a month for 100 prompts, unlimited workspaces, brands, competitors and countries, and includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Lite is $29 for 15 prompts, which Peec has no answer to. Premium is $489 for 400 prompts, and extra blocks of 100 prompts cost $99 a month. Annual billing takes 15% off.
The catch is the add-on model. Claude costs $29, $109 or $439 a month depending on plan, and Google AI Mode and Gemini each cost $9, $59 or $149, so a Premium account with all seven engines is well over $1,000 a month. Otterly collects from the public websites of the AI tools except Claude, which it reads through the API, and every prompt runs once a day. The public API and MCP server arrive with Standard and are metered at 2,000 requests a month (5,000 on Premium); they return stored monitoring data rather than running a fresh prompt. The free trial is seven days.
Pros
- Cheapest entry point in the category, and 100 prompts for less than Peec's 150.
- Unlimited countries and brands on every plan, where Peec caps Starter at one country.
- Perplexity included on all plans.
Cons
- Claude, Gemini and AI Mode cost extra, and the Claude add-on is the expensive one.
- API and MCP calls are metered monthly and Lite has neither.
- No on-demand prompt runs: new prompts enter the daily cycle.
Cite42: run any prompt now, and pay per call
Cite42 is a pay-per-call API and MCP server rather than a dashboard. You send a prompt and a list of brands, choose any of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and get back which brands each answer mentioned, in what order, and which sources it cited, in a few seconds. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are queried through their official APIs with web search on, Perplexity through its own search, and AI Overviews from live Google results. That is a different measurement from Peec's logged-out app scraping, and the response says so in its measurement block. Trackers can also opt into a capture of the ChatGPT app itself.
There is no plan or prompt quota. You top up a balance (minimum $25.00) that never expires and pay only for calls that succeed, from $0.01 per AI tool. A rankings check costs $0.05 on ChatGPT alone and $0.20 across all five tools, and a verified signup includes $1.00 of credit. To reproduce Peec's Starter plan, 50 prompts on three tools once a week, a tracker costs about $28.17 a month and keeps the history.
The same tools work over MCP in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor, so an audit you try in a chat window can move into code unchanged. Here is a five-tool check of one prompt:
curl --fail-with-body https://www.cite42.dev/api/v1/rankings \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $CITE42_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"query": "What are the best AI visibility tools for tracking brand mentions in ChatGPT?",
"competitors": ["Peec AI", "Otterly", "Scrunch", "Profound", "Cite42"],
"fullSweep": true
}'
Pros
- Answers on demand, including Claude, which Peec reserves for Enterprise.
- No seats, quotas or subscription; a one-off audit of 20 prompts costs a few dollars.
- One API and MCP surface, with an OpenAPI spec and agent skills for coding assistants.
Cons
- No dashboard of charts; you read results in your MCP client, your own code, or the tracker report.
- Measures the models through their APIs, not the consumer apps, except the opt-in ChatGPT app capture.
- No Copilot, AI Mode or Naver.
Scrunch: larger prompt quotas and agent pages
Scrunch, acquired by Sitecore in June 2026, sells a tracking dashboard with a site layer on top. Starter is $300 a month ($250 billed annually) for 3 users, 350 custom prompts and 1,000 industry prompts; Growth is $500 ($417 annually) for 5 users and 700 custom prompts. Both cover ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews and Meta AI, so Claude and Perplexity are included where Peec charges Enterprise prices for them.
Scrunch collects "using a mix of browser automation and official platform APIs." New prompts run daily for 14 days and then every 72 hours by default, with a manual refresh button. The REST API is limited to Agency and Enterprise plans, but the MCP server works on any plan with OAuth sign-in. The extra features are site audits, Crawl Readiness, AI bot traffic from your CDN, and agent pages, a parallel version of your site for AI agents.
Pros
- Far more prompts per dollar than Peec, with Claude and Perplexity included.
- MCP on every plan; bot analytics and agent pages for teams that own the website too.
Cons
- The default refresh drops to every 72 hours after the first two weeks.
- The REST API needs an Agency or Enterprise plan, and Scrunch's own FAQ pages still show older plan names and prices, so confirm the current tier before you sign.
cloro: raw consumer-app answers at volume
cloro is for teams that would rather build the dashboard themselves. It is a scraping API that sends your prompt and a country to the consumer ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Google AI Mode or AI Overview app and returns the rendered answer with sources, inline citations, brand entities, shopping cards, ads and the fan-out queries. Pricing is a monthly credit subscription: a free tier of 500 credits, Lite at $30 for 37,500 credits, Hobby at $100 for 250,000. A ChatGPT answer is 5 credits, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Mode are 4, so a thousand answers cost a few dollars. Credits expire monthly and there is no Claude.
Pros
- The lowest per-answer cost here, and fields no dashboard exports, such as shopping cards and ads.
- Covers Copilot and AI Mode; async batches of up to 500 prompts with webhooks.
Cons
- You build storage, brand matching and reporting; a ChatGPT answer takes 30 to 45 seconds.
- No Claude, subscription only, and compliance with each platform's terms is placed on the customer.
Profound: enterprise platform with a free trial
Profound removed its $99 and $399 self-serve plans in September 2026. Brands now get a free seven-day trial with 50 fixed prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then a custom Enterprise contract. Enterprise adds up to nine engines, all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, the REST API and MCP server, and Prompt Volumes, a licensed panel dataset of real user conversations that estimates how often prompts are asked. Profound captures answers "directly from the consumer browsing experience rather than from model APIs." It is the right comparison only if you have an enterprise budget and want conversation-volume data; independent reviews repeatedly name price as the main complaint.
Which alternative fits which reason to leave
- You ran out of prompts. Otterly gives 100 for $189 and Scrunch 350 for $300. A Cite42 tracker has no plan quota: each prompt is one billed call per tool per run.
- You need Perplexity or Claude without an Enterprise quote. Scrunch includes both, Otterly includes Perplexity and sells Claude as an add-on, and Cite42 charges $0.06 per Claude check.
- You want an answer now, from code or an AI assistant. Cite42 and cloro are the two APIs here that run a prompt when you call them. Peec, Otterly, Scrunch and Profound return stored monitoring data.
- You want the consumer app answer at scale. cloro, with the build cost that comes with it.
- You have an enterprise budget and want conversation-volume data. Profound.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a cheaper alternative to Peec AI?
Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts and charges $189 for 100 prompts, against Peec's $95 for 50. For occasional checks, Cite42 has no subscription at all: a brand check across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews costs $0.20, you top up from $25.00 and the balance never expires.
Which Peec AI alternatives include Claude?
Scrunch includes Claude on every plan. Cite42 queries Claude through the official API on every call for $0.06. Otterly sells Claude as an add-on from $29 a month. Peec lists Claude under Enterprise only.
Does Peec AI have an API?
Yes, from the $245 Pro plan, and an MCP server on all plans. Both return the data Peec has already collected on its daily cycle; neither runs a new prompt on demand. Cite42 and cloro are the APIs in this list that do.
Can I replace Peec AI with an MCP server in Claude or ChatGPT?
For checks and audits, yes. Cite42's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.cite42.dev runs the same tools as its REST API from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor and bills per call. Scrunch and Otterly also run MCP servers, but they read stored monitoring data from a subscription.
Try your prompts before you switch
Take the prompts you track in Peec, pick five, and run them through a free Cite42 account with $1.00 of starter credit from the dashboard or your MCP client. If the answers you need are the consumer-app ones at volume, cloro's free tier covers about 100 ChatGPT answers a month for the same test. The AI visibility tools guide covers the dashboards in more depth, and the AI visibility APIs guide covers the API options.
